Painting with Acrylics- For the best results You will need to use Acrylic Glazing compound it's best NOT to use Linseed oil Putty. Acrylics will work on old "dry" putties however newly applied linseed types will repel the paint and make it bead, oil and water simply don't mix

Dow Corning Glazing Putty, is the ideal product for glazing timber or metal frames. It offers excellent adhesion to glass and window frames, painted and varnished wood and metal. It is highly resistant to direct sunlight and large temperature changes. The putty should be overpainted after application, leave for a minimum of four hours prior to coating.
Dow Corning Glazing Putty is easy to apply and is resistant to rain after only six hours - dependent on climatic conditions. Do not apply if rain is imminent.
