With the constant stream of DIY programmes on our television screens, more homeowners than ever are specifying brands' colours and finishes that they see on screen. Linda Doughty of Dulux Trade Business explains the key difference between retail trade and True Trade paints;
- "Dulux Trade paints are formulated with the needs of the professional tradesman in mind. These assets are valuable to the home user too.
"High-quality ingredients are used specifically to give the paint improved opacity, the ability to be thinned and excellent flow and levelling to give a superior final finish.- "Dulux Trade paints' spreading rates are higher than retail paints. They cover better and go further
"Due to the pigment's quality and its higher solids content, the paint give the user the flexibility to adjust the consistency to provide the best result dependent upon the surface condition, temperature, humidity and application method, flexibility, which retail paints cannot offer. "Retail paints give good results, as they have what is known as a 'false body', making them easy to use straight from the can. "The false body thickens the paint in the can, so that it is easy to achieve a good brush or roller loading and get a good coat of paint to the surface, even when the person has no painting experience. "The false body disappears as the paint is brushed out, giving a passable final experience, but the bottom line is that what you see is what you get - because of the false body you cannot adjust the consistency or you upset the finely balanced application properties. “The way to achieve the best finish is to use a paint that provides real body, such as the Dulux Trade range."
